Why Therapy?

We may hear ourselves saying we are ‘fine’ when the opposite is true.

The pressures of life can take us away from ourselves or a part of us may get buried in order to keep going. The pace of life can be fast and overwhelming with very little time for reflection.

Asking for help can feel impossible.

We all need to ask for help at difficult times in our lives, no matter how strong we can be or are perceived to be. There is a strength in asking for help and admitting to ourselves that it is time to try something different.

No matter how well equipped we might feel, sometimes there are struggles and challenges where the resources we have may not be helping.

This applies to people of all ages.

Sometimes there are life transitions that can bring additional pressures. For example, young people often have to navigate huge transitions, which can be overwhelming.

Adolescence and the transition to adulthood is one of the biggest life transitions we experience. Sometimes there is very little acknowledgement of this in a young person's daily life.

This can be much harder to navigate when there are other difficulties and struggles added, such as: anxiety, conflict in friendships, exploring sexuality, boundaries, social media, bereavement, trauma, school pressures and understanding differences such as neurodiversity.

“Sometimes having a space to talk to someone not part of our everyday life can help us to slow down and gain a deeper perspective.”
